Hi, I’m Gerrit 👋

I’m a Ph.D. economist and data enthusiast. For more than six years, I’ve been turning large datasets into clear and tangible insights.

At Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, my research focuses on public health and data-driven economic analysis. What fascinates me most is how the right structure, methods, and a touch of curiosity can bring clarity to complex relationships.

Beyond academia, I’m passionate about the intersection of data and creativity – especially in the music and entertainment industries. I love experimenting with new tools, building dashboards, or simply engaging in meaningful conversations about intriguing questions.

When I’m not analyzing data…

… you’ll probably find me playing volleyball, training martial arts, hiking, skiing, or playing table soccer.

For several years, I served as chairperson of Kixx’n’Trixx – Table Soccer Halle e.V., where I had the pleasure of helping to revive the club after the pandemic together with an amazing board team.

I truly enjoy talking about my hobbies, experiences, and ideas. Meaningful exchange inspires me – and I’m always open to new perspectives, whether during sports, over a mate drink, or online.

My passion 💶 ⭐

To me, money means freedom.
The more you have, the more opportunities open up: a great vacation, the new Zelda game – or simply the freedom to take time off and step away from your job for a while.

Of course, money isn’t the only explanatory variable of personal happiness, but for many people, it’s a very important one. That’s why I find it surprising how unprepared many are when it comes to financial matters – be it retirement planning, insurance, or savings goals.

Then again, maybe it’s not so surprising: finance is complex, and there are certainly players who benefit from keeping it that way (just ask a bank advisor from Bank A about the best checking account from Bank B 😉).

Through my studies, personal experiences, and my involvement with the Academic Stock Market Club at the Martin Luther University Halle, I’ve developed a solid understanding of the financial world – knowledge that I’m eager to share for free.
